The Processes

| The Design Process |
- Consultation
This is a meeting with the
designer where requirements
for your garden/ outside
space are ascertained, and
possible design solutions are
discussed. They will advise
you on planting areas, hard
landscaping, shape and
structure for the garden,
plus specific features such
as seating areas or
pergolas/gazebos. This will
leave you with lots of ideas
for the design of your
garden/ outside space, as
well as general maintenance
suggestions for existing
planting or enhanced planting
required for any 'problem
areas' needing attention.
This may be all you need to
get going on you own project,
or you may wish to continue
to the next stage with a
Design Plan or Planitng
Scheme.
- Formal
Quotations for Design Work
After the initial meeting, a
quotation is prepared and
sent to the customer to check
over. This document is a
statement of what services
the designer will provide,
outlining the design
requirements and the costs of
plans.
- Design
Plan
When the quotation is agreed,
we will start with surveying
the garden, assessing
existing planting and
landscape features/properties
using notes and pictures.
This enables the production
of a number of 'rough'
(although well detailed) hand
drawn designs which will then
be discussed with you. We can
then decide on a final design
idea and produce a final
Design Plan. This will be a
scale hand drawn Design Plan
with plant suggestions and
notes to advise contractors
on materials etc. This plan
is used as a working plan and
to obtain quotations from
landscaping contractors, and
will then be used by the
appointed contractor as a
basis from which to construct
the garden.
- Planting
Scheme
When the Design Plan has been
approved, work will normally
commence on the Planting
Scheme which adds
considerable plant detailing.
However, we can provide a
Planting Scheme as a stand
alone product.
After discussing colour,
texture, foliage, plant likes
and dislikes, plus
maintenance requirements, we
can produce a detailed
Planting Scheme to reflect
either seasonal interest, or
a year round display, using
trees, shrubs, perennials and
bulbs tailored to suit your
site situation and soil type.
The Planting Scheme is a hand
drawn plan with exact
positions of plants with
quantity, latin and common
names, carefully worked out
for height, colour and
interest.
